**The Role**

The Cyber Plans and National Response team has several vacancies for Cyber Security Advice and Assessment Analysts to conduct analysis and inform operational planning activities within our team, and throughout the branch.

Analysts will utilise their advice and assessment skillset to assess varying networks and systems, and subsequently provide SME knowledge and advice to contribute to team, section and branch objectives. Insights will be drawn from technical, operational and occasionally strategic topics, across all levels of classification. Analysts will ensure all members of the branch have visibility of the cyber threat landscape to ensure that informed decisions can be made and appropriate actions are taken.

An **ASD4** Cyber Security Advice and Assessment Analyst will be required to:

- Under routine direction to perform and achieve cyber security, research and analysis work within an integrated workforce.
- They will provide specialist support that is informed and directed by their knowledge of the cyber security function.
- They may undertake some research and analysis activities.

An
**ASD5** Cyber Security Advice and Assessment Analyst will be required to:

- Under routine direction to perform and achieve moderately complex cyber security, research and analysis work within an integrated workforce.
- They may be required to engage and communicate with stakeholders to identify, respond and provide advice on issues.

An
**ASD6** Cyber Security Advice and Assessment Analyst will be required to:

- Under broad direction to perform and achieve complex cyber security, research, and analysis work within an integrated workforce.
- They will provide detailed cyber event analysis, technical assessment, and SME security advice in relation to complex work.
- Contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.
- They are expected to be capable of supervising staff and building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit.
- They will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to complex or sensitive issues.

An
**ASD EL1** Cyber Security Advice and Assessment Manager will be required to:

- Perform and achieve complex to very complex cyber security, research and analysis work within an integrated workforce.
- They will provide detailed assessment and SME security advice in relation to complex to very complex work and will be expected to lead a team of Cyber Security Advice and Assessment Analysts.
- They are expected to be capable of both building and leading team capability through coaching and feedback.
- Developing the quality of work undertaken by others whilst providing expert guidance to the team relating to the strategic and operational direction of the work unit.
- They will have a high level of stakeholder engagement and will liaise with stakeholders in relation to very complex or sensitive issues.

**About our Team**

The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) is based within the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD). The ACSC leads the Australian Government’s effort to improve cyber security. Our role is to help make Australian the most secure place to connect online.

Active Cyber Defence (ACD) Branch is a multi-disciplined team established to prepare and equip Australia’s most critical systems against cyber-attacks by bringing collective capabilities to bear against adversaries and providing a united front to system Defence. We achieve this in close partnership across Government and industry, in line with legal and governance frameworks.

Roles in ACD Branch span strategic and operational planning, exercise, research and development, operations and mission governance. There are opportunities for travel, continuous training and professional development, and industry collaboration. The ACD team contains a diverse set of skills including intelligence, exercises, engineering, operations, governance, executive and support.

We are seeking planners and mission support officers at various levels who have:

- Developing productive working relationships to ensure effective communication and collaboration on intelligence matters.
- Communicating with influence by sharing SME advice and assessment information to ensure alignment and awareness across a number of issue sets.
- Displaying personal drive and integrity by managing competing priorities in a geographically dispersed team environment.
- Managing, mentoring and developing staff to grow cyber and intelligence analysis skills and to achieve results.

Technical cyber security skills are not required for these role but a willingness to learn cyber security concepts is recommended. Training is provided.
