**MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT WORKER**

- Relevant Qualifications in Disability and Mental Health or relevant field
- Clearance checks (AFP, NDIS Worker or Working with Children
- Reliable car
- Comprehensive Insurance
- Ability to work 3 hour shifts (we try and combine two shifts to get 6 hours)
- Willingness to travel up to 45 minutes (we pay for 30 minutes of travel + kilometers)
- Available 3 weekdays/ week
- Comfortable visiting clients in their own homes.
- Ability to communicate and plan ahead.

**Who we are after**

**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**
We seek friendly, energetic individuals looking for a rewarding role as an entry-level Mental Health Support Workers (Mental Health).
It is the perfect second or student job where you can work as many hours as you want per week. The role is casual with a generous base salary.
Hours range from 3 - 21 hours a week, depending on your availability and preferences, shifts are 2-4 hours on average.
Our clients need reliable and consistent support workers each week. You must be available at least 3 days on an ongoing basis.

We support adults and young people with disability, older people and those who just need some help around the house, or out-and-about, or even on holidays. We provide social support and therapy assistance for mental health recovery as well.
**Duties Include**:
- Providing social support to people with disabilities and people recovering from mental health related issues
- Assist people with physical and psycho-social disabilities to remain independent in their own homes.
- Assisting with light housework, vacuuming, mopping, kitchen, bathroom.
- Running errands and helping people with daily life tasks.
- Assist people to get out and about in the community.
- Hanging out and making plans to try new thing.
- Help with cooking and doing dishes, planning meals, groceries.
- Keeping clients company providing positive social support and building confidence.
- Reviewing and updating care support plans.

We take your work, health and safety seriously, we provide regular face-to-face support and check-in phone calls to make sure you are well supported.
MANDATORY Requirements (must have or commence process before applying):
- Minimum of a Certificate III or IV in Disability/ Community Services / Mental Health (or similar) is essential
- NDIS Worker Check
- Current 1st Aid Certificate & CPR
- Covid-19 vaccination certificate (plus booster when eligible)
- Own a reliable vehicle or access to a vehicle to drive clients places and run errands with comprehensive insurance
- NDIS Supporting Effective Communication and Worker Orientation Modules (Online)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Full driver’s license
- Reliable, responsible attitude towards work (available at least 3 days each week including weekends)
- Access to the internet for rosters and client reporting
Desirable:
- Lived experience of disability or mental health
- Knowledge of and commitment to working in a person-centred, recovery-oriented approach
- The ability to remain calm in a crisis and respond appropriately
- Ability to relate to a range of people from different cultures and backgrounds
