**What you'll be doing**
- The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality care to patients in a complex clinical environment.
- Medical Officers will work under an appropriate level of supervision according to their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to patients of all ages presenting in any condition and will work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.
- You may be required to work at the different facilities and locations with the NSW public health system as part of Central Coast Local Health District which includes Gosford, Wyong, Woy Woy and Long Jetty Hospitals.
- Clinical Services: Management of oncology patients in the outpatient setting under supervision of the Radiation Oncologist. Provide inpatient consultation services under supervision. Participate in an on-call roster. Participate and present at departmental audit meetings and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Teaching, Research and Education: Attend and contribute to educational activities within the Department relating to radiation oncology, medical oncology and palliative care. Provide supervision and education for junior medical staff including ward resident and medical students. Depending on the level of experience and interest, to undertake a research project under supervision with the aim of presentation/publication locally or internationally.
- Administrative aspects: Maintain comprehensive patient records within the electronic medical records within the department and comply with medical record keeping within the hospital.
- Future aspirations in radiation oncology: The current position is an unaccredited position. It is anticipated that the appointee would have an interest in working towards obtaining an accredited training position in Radiation Oncology following completion of the one-year contract.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for Registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Completion of at least three postgraduate years working as a medical officer with demonstrated competence.
- Demonstrated commitment and/or demonstrated interest in radiation oncology.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated time management and problem solving skills. Along with Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills, with minimum of 30 words per minute.
- Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute.
