**About the role**

As the Project Officer, Indigenous you will work with a broad spectrum of stakeholders at all levels to influence change and deliver better outcomes for Aboriginal and other vulnerable communities through participation in organised sport and active recreation.

You will:

- lead or support the development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based projects across the state
- build strong stakeholder relationships with State Sport Organisations, the sport and active recreation industry, state, federal and local government organisations, NGOs, and community groups
- contribute to the development of strategic initiatives to address inequity and barriers to participation in organised sport and active recreation for Aboriginal and other vulnerable communities
- influence decisions about funding and program delivery

Current priorities for this position in 2023:

- report on implementation of our RAP at its conclusion later this year
- in partnership with a Principal Policy Officer, lead the development of a revised RAP to commence in 2024, including liaison with Reconciliation Australia
- chair the Office of Sport’s Aboriginal Staff Network, which meets fortnightly to provide advice and support on policies, projects and programs which aim to deliver outcomes for Aboriginal communities across the State
- support colleagues in teams who focus on regional delivery, our centres and venues, women in sport, multicultural communities, people with a disability, data and insights, vouchers, the Duke of Edinburgh International Award, child protection, and sector support

**About you**

You identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and have a lived experience of Aboriginal cultural values and heritage. You have an extensive knowledge of Aboriginal affairs and an understanding of Aboriginal culture. You have strong communication skills and stakeholder management abilities, to engage leaders across sector organisations and community levels. You have strong project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines. You foster a positive customer experience, and you are technology savvy.

The Office of Sport is the lead NSW Government agency for sport and active recreation.
