Melbourne, Australia AFRY Deutschland GmbH Full time

AFRY is expanding services and geographic coverage into Australia. We are therefore looking for Consultants interested in being part of a small but rapidly growing team. The team will initially be based in our growing Melbourne office. While our office is being established in Melbourne, staff will be closely supported and trained primarily by our UK and SE Asia teams, as well as the wider AFRY network.

About the role

Consultants are responsible for undertaking complex analyses and guiding analysts to support our clients in answering the commercial and strategy challenges they face. Consultants will support the definition of and contribute to analytical approaches and draw key messages from their analysis that are relevant to the client and communicate these to the project team and client through presentations and written reports. Consultants will guide and monitor the work of Analysts - as well as perform complex parts of tasks themselves - and report on progress to Project Supervisors.

Our growing Australian team specialises in all aspects of the Australian energy transition. Our projects will relate to the energy sector and all aspects of the energy transition in the Australian market. Typical projects may focus on strategic and commercial advice, decarbonisation analyses and strategy; assessments of energy markets, policies, and regulations; market and commercial due diligence related to energy sector transactions, model power systems and markets, energy technology cost analysis and projections.

Primary responsibilities:

- You will efficiently guide a workstream of a project, ensuring analyses are conducted with rigor and attention to detail for the contribution to reports and slide-based deliverables for clients and you will balance multiple priorities and key timelines of the workstream in a typically fast-paced environment.
- You will conduct research on a range of energy topics e.g. energy markets, renewable technologies, regulatory and policy in a given market, business and commercial assessments; derive inputs for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- You will undertake increasingly complex quantitative and qualitative analysis, take ownership of the analysis workstream and supervise the work of analysts, ensuring that accurate and pertinent messages are drawn. This includes the ability to pay attention to detail and use MS Excel proficiently. Coding skills, e.g. Python, MS SQL or VBA, are an advantage.
- Report-writing is a core part of our work and so we are also looking for the ability to explain complex information in a clear and logical way, using both MS Word and PowerPoint.
- You will contribute to proposals and other sales material and where possible
- You will primarily work within the Australian market and Australian clients and also international clients with an interest in the Australian market. You will also be expected to collaborate with other AFRY offices around the world to support both the business and your own development.

.Qualifications
- Experience in management consulting and energy, with a numerical, economics or financial background either from education or practice.
- Virtually all the work we do requires teamwork, so if you have good communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work well with others within a project team and wider office environment you will fit in well.
- You will be required to work in a commercial environment against budgets and deadlines, so you will need to be able to think for yourself, be pro-active, be a self-starter, and have a business-oriented mindset.
- Experience in topics such as electricity and/or gas market analysis, power market modelling, management consulting, corporate strategy (or similar consulting), electricity market modelling, financial modelling of power plant projects, project finance or investments, power system planning, market/commercial due diligence and/or understanding of the Australian energy market dynamics, regulations, and policies.

We offer a competitive salary, a performance-related bonus scheme, and a strong range of benefits, in a friendly international working environment with a wide variety of interesting and challenging projects.

If we think you could be a good fit for the organisation, you will be invited to an interview.
