**About the position**

The REVAL Day Program provides recreational, educational, vocational and life skills related programs to young people age 14-21 who have been disengaged from mainstream education or vocation environments and who have experienced a range of complex problems related to substance use. The program offers young people of all abilities and aptitude levels an opportunity to engage in constructive activities designed to support their transition into fuller participation in community.

The REVAL Day Program works from an intentional yet opportunistic perspective, using structured / planned group work programs / projects / activities as a tool to engage young people in drug Date of last edit: Version:1 Approved by Manager, People and Capability Page 2 of 7 treatment, with a focus on reducing alcohol and drug related harm and enhancing social connectedness.

As a member of a small team, the Day Program Worker plans, promotes and facilitates a range of programs and activities supporting the young people who access the service. Some of these programs and activities are developed and facilitated in collaboration with external agencies. This structured yet flexible program offers a safe environment where young people can take advantage of opportunities to try new things and test their learnings in a supported manner.

The Day Program Worker will be required to facilitate activities both on and off site, which may include recreation and adventure-based programs, living skills and art-based programs. The role will also require the ability to work and build constructive collaborative relationships with a range of external service providers and professionals from a diverse range of backgrounds. A demonstrated ability to work with young people and communities from culturally diverse backgrounds is essential.

**Some of your key responsibilities will be**
- Use a range of modalities to build rapport and enhance retention of young people in the program including assertive follow up; home visits; recreation activities; group programs; street outreach and after hours support.
- Develop and maintain referral networks and pathways with stakeholders (police, courts, legal services, family services, schools, education/ skills providers etc.)
- Ensure client files and data base are up-to-date, accurate and meet both organisational and legislative requirements
- Participation in evaluation and ongoing monitoring of the programs, services, and systems.
- Include clients in the evaluation of the service where appropriate.
- Adhere to all YSAS’ policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct, Child Safety Policies, Confidentiality Agreement, Workplace Respect policy
