The City Futures Department comprises of Economic Development, Strategic Planning, Urban Design, Open Space Planning and Design, and GIS.

The Strategic Planning team guide sustainable and equitable change across municipality by developing integrated land use planning & development policies, strategies and structure plans. The team enacts Council’s legislative responsibility to manage the Banyule Planning Scheme and ensure it is up to date, aligned with State & Regional planning policy and responsive to community needs & values.

**About the Role**:

- Manage or contribute to strategic planning projects including preparation and implementation of land use and built environment policies, strategies, plans, guidelines.
- You will participate in multidisciplinary project teams to take part in strategy preparation and policy development across the organisation and
- Undertake community engagement on a diverse range of strategic planning projects.

**Skills, experience and certificates**
- Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or related discipline.
- Previous experience in a strategic planning role is required, preferably in local government.
- Demonstrated understanding of Victorian, Metropolitan Melbourne and Local Government planning strategies and the _Planning and Environment Act 1987. _
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks associated with land use and development policies, strategies and plans, including property development projects.
- Ability to concurrently manage various complex projects, to deliver outcomes with agreed timelines and budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver planning scheme amendments.
- Ability to write council reports and briefing notes.
- Demonstrated ability to provide work effectively in a team environment.
