**About the role**

An exceptional opportunity has become available for an experienced Food Services Assistant to join the Mater Private Hospital Redland team on a casual basis.

This position plays a pivotal role in contributing to the daily operations of the Food Services team based at Mater Private Hospital Redland. As a Food Services employee you will be required to work shifts between the hours of 5:30am to 9:15pm Monday to Sunday (inclusive), however your availability and the roster requirements will be discussed further at interview.

**Salary range: $29.59 - $32.09 per hour plus superannuation and salary packaging**

**What you’ll be doing**

This is a hands-on role that will see you involved in a variety of activities throughout the day, including but not limited to:

- Preparation and delivery of meal trays, coffee and tea to patients
- Collation of menu items and preparation of these items
- Interpretation of therapeutic dietary requirements
- Some preparation of food including simple cooking and reheating of meals
- Preparation of chemicals, operating the dishwasher as directed, scraping trays, loading dirty dishes, unloading clean dishes and appropriate storage of clean items
- General cleaning of the kitchen including but not limited to floors, walls, benches and pantry kitchens
- General duties as directed by the Supervisor or After-Hours Managers
- Incorporating OH&S practices in all areas of your work e.g. the use of protective clothing and checking environment is safe and hazard-free

**About you**
- Previous experience working in food services or a similar hospitality position is a must.
- Possess a very high level of interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to liaise with colleagues in multiple disciplines and a diverse patient cohort.
- Good time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks at hand.
- The ability to multitask and take direction.
- Proven high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, in a fast-paced environment and as a member of a team.
- Successful completion of Food Safety & Hygiene Training and safe working procedures for all chemicals and equipment.
- Food preparation and cooking experience will be highly regarded
- A sound level of physical fitness
- A sound level of computer skills
