The Head of Assurance is an integral leadership role responsible for shaping, defining and improving the safety (including heavy vehicle), wellbeing and environment compliance and assurance standards.

This role will work in partnership with the HSE leadership team and other relevant leaders in the business to deliver compliance to internal and external systems meeting our legal, regulatory, and other HSE obligations, beyond the expectations of our customers and stakeholders.

The Head of Assurance is a safety leader who understands the importance of governance, assessing compliance and taking action to deliver standardisation and consistency within the business across all HSE platforms.

Striving to advance Team Global Express’s strategy through enabling a unified culture of safety, people, customer focus and operational excellence the role leads a team to execute, operationalise and support the implementation of the HSE Strategic Plan and Programs in line with the ‘Relentless on Safety’ strategy and values.

Accountabilities
- Lead a team of HSE professionals in the building of a total business HSE governance and assurance framework supporting the first and leading the second and third line of defence for HSE obligations, ensuring programs remain current and fit for purpose.
- Partner with relevant business units to take corrective and preventative action where improvement is required and/or best practice opportunities identified.
- Serve as an expert resource in governance and assurance to provide advice and recommendations on processes, tools and oversight.
- Work with employees, business units and leaders to identify and establish appropriate assurance measures and mechanisms relevant to the work they undertake.
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership to foster positive HSE cultural change through the implementation of the “Relentless on Safety” Program.
- Encourage, coach and develop HSE team members to develop a high performing function.
- Support the delivery and implementation of HSE Programs as required to meet Team Global Express and HSE strategies.
- Build and maintain effective networks and relationships to assist in the development, implementation and review of externally facing HSE improvement deliverables.
- Be prepared to undertake any other task that may be reasonably required from time to time for which you are capable of performing.

About You

- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Health & Safety, Environment, Risk and / or other relevant discipline
- Chartered/ Certified HSE professional (desirable)
- Internal and external Auditor qualifications
- 7-10 years practical experience in a HSE leadership role
- In-depth knowledge of governance and assurance framework development and deployment
- In-depth knowledge of heavy vehicle legislative frameworks including accreditation schemes.
- Experience in relationship management of both internal clients and external stakeholders.
- Excellent knowledge of HSE training best practice delivery and mapping against qualifications frameworks.
