Medical Advisor

MSF Operational Centre Paris consists of four partner sections (Paris, New York, Tokyo and Sydney) as well as an office in Dubai. MSF OCP carries out operations according to a common strategic and medico-operational plan. The Sydney Medical Unit is part of the MSF OCP Medical Department and is responsible for medical support of operations in the field of Women’s and Child Health.

**Responsibilities**

Reporting to the Deputy Medical Director OCP, this 8 month fixed term contract, available for immediate start will provide medical leadership, expertise and advocacy in the field of Women’s and Child Health to support OCP operations and projects.

With a focus on the improvement of care for patients you will work collaboratively within your team of Paediatricians, Women’s Health experts and medical specialists to provide paediatric care and medical support across a number of paediatric programs. Accountabilities include:

- Contribution to medico-operational strategies
- Providing relevant, context-adapted medical support
- Assuring quality improvement and respect for medical ethics in our operations.
- Developing and supporting operational research and relevant medical innovation.
- Advocating internally and externally, based on field needs, experience and research.
- Providing linkage to MSF and the external medical community.

**Requirements**:
To be successful in this key position, you will enjoy collaborating with colleagues in the medical department across relevant dossiers ( nutrition, malaria, obstetrics, vaccination, HIV/TB, ABR) and be motivated by contributing to the improvement of care for severely sick children and neonates. Ideally you can demonstrate the following:

- Medical doctor with degree or board certification in paediatrics
- Field experience with MSF, preferable in MSF OCP
- Good organizational and realistic planning skills
- Ability and willingness to take initiative and work autonomously
- Pragmatic, solution-oriented thinking
- Willingness and capacity to travel on short notice for several weeks at a time to the field, Europe and MSF offices (including Australia)
- Excellent written and verbal communications in English and French.
