Canteen Worker

**Title**: Canteen Staff

**Reporting to**: Canteen Manager

**Main Duties/Responsibilities**:
Assist in the day-to-day operations of the canteen:
Customer
- Prepare food items to high standard throughout the shift.
- Serve customers who come to canteen for collection or purchase of meal items.
- Ensure **meals are prepared on time** for the allocated meal time and any meals to external schools are delivered with enough time to allow a buffer for traffic congestion or unknown circumstances.
- Display meals and ensure they are stored in a safe and organised manner.
- Maintain high standards of **cleanliness** and **food safety** at all times.
- Clean all equipment, containers and benches after service times.
- Build and maintain a **strong relationship** with the children, school principal and staff at the school.
- Investigate and respond to **customer feedback** proactively and in a timely manner.

People

- Adhere to all **company operating standards and policies** at all times.
- Always adhere to the **child safe policies **and promptly escalate any observed behaviour or conversations that are deemed to not meet this policy.

Profit
- **Control stock levels**:

- control portions, stock rotation and dates to ensure no wasted food items.
- **Maintain property and equipment **as required, with detailed cleaning procedures and all relevant equipment maintenance carried out.
- **Achieve targets** set by your canteen manager on the shift.

Sales
- **Celebrate special events and occasions** in the school or the community, eg valentines day or Christmas menu items.
- **Suggest child friendly menu items **to the canteen manager that you feel would be both nutritious and profitable.

**Skills and Experience**

**Qualifications**:

- Valid working with children’s check essential

Experience
- Hospitality or food service experience preferred.

**Skills**:

- Excellent communication skills
- Organised and able to meet deadlines

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 8 per week

**Salary**: $21.38 - $22.77 per hour
