About the Role:
We are looking for up to six graduates to join our Integrated Portfolio Planning (IPP) team to commence work in February 2024. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within AGL’s high-performing wholesale energy analytics team, which is pivotal in informing and delivering AGL’s strategic priorities. This team provides evidence driven analysis and advice to support trading decisions to optimise value and manage risk.

To work in IPP, you will be part of a team that tackles multiple complex problems every day. We develop systems, models, reports and process, providing key load forecasting, wholesale pricing, market modelling, portfolio analysis, asset planning and trading technology expertise within the business.

A Graduate Analyst in IPP will get the opportunity to work across at least two of the areas below over the first 2-years of your career at AGL.
- In Load Forecasting, the Graduate Analyst will contribute to the development of market analysis, research, and insights, enabling the building and continuous improvement of Wholesale Market’s gas and electricity load forecasting capability, while supporting high-quality trading and commercial decision making.
- In Wholesale Pricing, the Graduate Analyst will work with a highly skilled team that is responsible for the development and maintenance of wholesale pricing and products for Commercial and Residential segments. The team is central to managing AGL’s significant financial risk and strategy in the energy markets.
- In Market Modelling, the Graduate Analyst will contribute to the development of complex mathematical models to forecast market outcomes within the commodity markets that AGL operates in. The market modelling team provides critical information for short and long-term business decisions including trading and asset investments.
- In Portfolio Analysis, the Graduate Analyst will contribute to the development and operation of models that manage AGL’s wholesale exposures across a range of time frames and commodities. This role interacts closely with Trading and Origination in order to support decisions that optimize value and risk.
- In Trading Technology, the Graduate Analyst will provide business analysis as an input into the development of capabilities in trading systems. This team ensures that value is provided back to Trading and supporting operational teams, through an efficient and collaborative technology delivery program.

What you’ll be doing:
The Graduate Analyst will have the opportunity to both learn on-the-job with a highly skilled team and add value through:

- Delivery of commercial analysis that improves decision making, supporting the creation of wholesale pricing and products, and improving the quality and consistency of load forecasting customer demand
- Contributing to the ongoing enhancement of AGL’s analytics capability, through continuous improvement in the design, development, testing and implementation of AGL’s in-house models, wholesale pricing, and load forecasting analytics systems
- Working on complex business and industry problems to identify and evaluate solutions for AGL, our customers and the communities that we operate in
- Working with a large cross-functional group of stakeholders across AGL to model market risks that support trading decisions
