**Employment Type**: Maximum Term Part Time (upto 12 months)
**Hours per week**: 24 hours per week (Thurs-Sat), with availability of leave cover on other days.

**Salary**:$55,189.80 - 57,571.74 (pro rata) per annum

**About the role**:
A vacancy exists in the St Joseph's Hospital Dietetics Department for a highly motivated Nutrition Assistant with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to oversee the provision of food and fluids, and to assist the dietitian in providing nutritional care to inpatients at St Joseph’s Hospital.

The areas of work include patients on Medical Rehabilitation, Palliative and Rehabilitation Aged Care, Aged Care Psychiatry wards, and the Huntington Disease Unit located on site. The role of the Nutrition Assistant is to support the provision of therapeutic dietary recommendations set out by the Dietitian and other multidisciplinary teams. Supervision may be direct, indirect or remote and must occur within organisational requirements. The work is under the delegation and supervision of an allied health professional, taking on designated tasks to provide a quality standard of food and fluids, and performing administrative or other tasks as requested.

**Selection Criteria**

1.Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia

2.Certificate 3 in Health Service Assistant (Nutrition and Dietetic Support) and/or demonstrated experience.

3.Previous hospital experience working as a Nutrition Assistant

4.Knowledge of and experience with computers, including CBORD diet office

5.Experience in conducting quality improvement audits regarding meal and service provisions.

6.Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

7.Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with mínimal supervision by the Dietetics Department Manager

8.Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills
