**PA/Specialist Medical Secretary**

There is a fantastic opportunity for a personal assistant / medical secretary to join our specialist practice, based within our Malvern rooms within Cabrini Hospital. We are seeking a proactive, patient-caring and well-organised person to assist on between 9 and 5pm, 3-4 days a week. The practice is not open for either weekends or public holidays.

**About us**

We run a colorectal (bowel) surgery practice, providing high levels of care. We are co-located with other colorectal practices in the same office with a very collegiate atmosphere. Nonetheless, you will only be responsible to one surgeon. We have an open communication policy and reward effort and patient-centredness.

**The role**

A pivotal position within our practice, you will provide secretarial support to a single surgeon. You will deliver the highest level of customer service and patient care. Your days will be busy and varied, requiring effective planning, preparation and time management. Car parking is available for a small fee and there is ample public transport links including trains, trams and buses.

Responsibilities include:

- Welcoming patients to the clinic and registering new patients
- Answering telephone enquiries
- Scheduling patient appointments
- Generating patient accounts
- Preparing for consulting clinics
- Liaising with internal and external health professionals/services
- Distributing results and correspondence
- Medicare/DVA billing and claiming
- Electronic records management

**About you**

You will be a team player with previous administration experience and a strong customer service focus. Always a step ahead, you will enjoy assisting and exceeding the expectations of our patients, doctors and referring practitioners. You will be comfortable working both on your own and within a team. Your flexible approach, calm demeanour and exceptional time management skills will see you succeed in this fast-paced role.

Essential requirements:

- Outstanding customer service skills
- High level of computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Exceptional communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Flexibility to work at our Brighton practice
- Well presented
- Patient-centred practice

Previous experience in medical administration will be highly regarded.

Experience with Genie software is highly desirable but not essential.
