**Radar Technical Officer - Wurrung & Legacy Radars**

**APS Level 6**

**Position overview**

The Radar Technical Officer will be responsible under supervision to provide technical services to ensure that the Wurrung and Legacy radar fleets used by the Bureau of Meteorology are supportable for operations. This may include:

- Identifying obsolescence risks
- Developing, testing and evaluating solutions to technical problems
- Working with maintenance staff to support ongoing operation

**Role responsibilities**

The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
1. Developing and maintaining an understanding of all aspects of the Wurrung & Legacy Radar network equipment, including operation, maintenance and interaction/communication with other Bureau systems, particularly data ingestion and external control.

2. Provide phone and remote support to Regional Resources to assist them in maintenance and trouble shooting.

3. Manage Operational/Technical Staff to keep the Fielded Equipment maintained and otherwise operating to meet User Requirements.

5. Undertake extensive domestic travel (up to 25%) to facilitate onsite installation/upgrade of Radar equipment.

6. Work collaboratively, communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and influence the work of teams.

7. Exercise Financial Delegation in accordance with Bureau Policies including holding a Commonwealth Government Credit Card.

8. Evaluate and ensure that the delivered equipment and systems meet requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.

9. Evaluate activities to understand critical factors for success and engage in continuous improvement and innovation.

10. Comply with all Bureau Work Health and Safety Policies and procedures. Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of employees, contractors and visitors who may be affected by your actions and systems of work.

11. Participate in ensuring the quality and effectiveness of products and services and the ongoing development, implementation and continual improvement of the quality management system to achieve and maintain the ongoing certification of compliance with the ISO 9001 quality management Standard.
