We are seeking a suitably experienced Careers Counsellor to join our college on a full time, ongoing basis. This position is responsible for realising the College Careers Program, which equips students with the necessary skills to navigate the complex and rapidly changing world of work by preparing and empowering students to manage their career planning and decision-making throughout the continuum of their future pathways, work and life.-
**Key responsibilities for the position include**:

- Help students develop capabilities for lifelong learning and for leading fulfilling lives
- Provide students with career-orientated advice, education, exploration opportunities, information, counselling and guidance.
- Work in collaboration with teachers to support the implementation of the Victorian Careers Curriculum Framework, focusing students on self-development, career exploration and career management
- Promote Positive Learning Partnerships and wellbeing for learning principles
- Ensure the College successfully implements the Victorian Careers Curriculum Framework across Years 7 to
- Liaise with the teaching team and the various Positions of Leadership to support case management of students including enrolments, exits and Student Support Group meetings
- Facilitate career testing
- Ensure students have a career plan
- Present in various forums to students, parents and staff
- Organise and support the running of significant career focused activities such as College Careers Expo
- demonstrate a sound understanding of Child Safety requirements at the College and ensure that all elements of the role promote the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all students
- Degree in people-related services; or other formal qualifications with substantial experience and specialist expertise in career advice, career-related training or job placement related services
- Graduate Certificate in Career Development or similar
- Qualified Careers Counsellor
- Ideally, be a member of the Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) and CEAV
- Driver’s licence as travel between campuses is required
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to consult, counsel and liaise with a wide range of people from culturally diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office software and computer systems
- Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal supervision and effectively monitor and coordinate a workload that may consist of multiple tasks of varying priorities
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and resolve sensitive issues in a confidential manner
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong attention to detail and to provide accurate data
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Demonstrated high levels of discretion and professional judgement
- Commitment to occupational health and safety
- Understand and follow relevant College policy and government legislation
- An understanding of and commitment to Catholic education
