The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Orthoptist - Advanced to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Provide advanced level clinical orthoptic services in a multidisciplinary environment to various specialities
- Demonstrate an advanced level of skill in paediatric vision and ocular motility assessment
- Provide clinical education and practice supervision to HP3 and HP4 clinicians, optometrists, allied health assistants, and students
- Work in partnership with nursing and administration staff to ensure the efficient flow of ophthalmology clinics
About you
**To be successful in this position you will require**:
- Proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Orthoptic Board
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Orthoptics (or equivalent) from a recognised University
- Membership or eligibility for membership with Orthoptics Australia
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card - QLD Health will meet cost)
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 19
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

Salary
- Permanent full time
- Base salary ranging from $130 149 - $135 803 per annum

The Ophthalmology team provide outpatient, inpatient and surgical services to the community within the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. The subspecialist interests of the Ophthalmology consultants include paediatric ophthalmology, orbital and oculoplastics, medical retina, surgical retina, cornea, glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology. Based in Southport.
