The Advanced Trainee in Rehabilitation Medicine at Blue Mountains District Anzac Memorial Hospital will gain learning and experiences in general and specialised terms, utilising evidenced based rehabilitation medicine principles, with the goal to progress through the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) Training program towards obtaining Fellowship.

The Advanced Trainee is to perform comprehensive rehabilitation assessments which include patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. The Advanced Trainee will supervise general medical management of patients admitted/referred to Rehabilitation Department and build an integrated care plan with interdisciplinary teams and the department to achieve best patient outcome.

Advanced trainees are expected to participate in consultative and outpatient services in a variety of ambulatory care settings which may include hospital facilities and private consulting rooms. Close and effective liaison with consultants will allow the doctor to demonstrate their level of ability and understanding of patient care and enable you to expand your areas of responsibility. All patients managed within the hospitals of the health service are under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding their care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care.

**Essential requirements**
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Completion of minimum two (2) years postgraduate medical experience in Australian Health System with demonstrated experience and commitment in a rehabilitation setting.
- Valid Working with Children Check.
- Cleared National Police Check.
- To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.

**Selection criteria**
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Sufficient clinical experience in order to undertake the clinical duties for clinical rotations, and proficiency in basic and advanced life support.
- Advanced ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
- Advanced communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience.
- Advanced good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Advanced independent clinical skills and judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions and problem solve with an awareness of limitations and ability to learn independently and modify behaviour accordingly.
- Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
