**Role Details**
Safer Family Services (SFS) is expanding its service delivery in the inner north of Adelaide. SFS Intensive Family Services (IFS) provides direct services to families through the antenatal period, for infants, children, and young people up to 18 years of age who are presenting with high level risks and complexities. SFS work in collaboration with both government and non-government organisations to improve the safety, emotional health and wellbeing of infants, children, and young people in South Australia.
SFS are seeking Practitioners to join the inner-north team on a full-time basis.
The role is responsible for:
- Strengthening the safety of vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families through the provision of high-level case practice and case management. This is a crucial aspect of ensuring the well-being of Aboriginal families and community.
- Identifying risks, conducting specialised psychosocial and risk assessments, and assertively engaging vulnerable children and their families, who are at high risk of entering the child protection system, through the provision of assessment, case planning, support, and culturally focused interventions.
- Developing strong working partnerships with both government and non-government agencies. This is essential to improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families. These partnerships can help coordinate services, share resources, and address the complex needs of Aboriginal communities effectively.
**About You**
We are looking for motivated individuals who have connection with the Aboriginal community, and experience, knowledge and understanding of how to work in culturally responsive, trauma informed ways with Aboriginal children, families, and community including the support of family led decision making to achieve safety of children.
You will have the ability to assess and work with families experiencing vulnerability and low levels of safety using a case management approach to assess, plan, refer and enable sustained intervention.
You will also have strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with families, multi-disciplinary teams and peers.

Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
Covid -19 - will be required to be up to date on their COVID-19 vaccination status prior to engagement with DHS, unless it would be medically unsafe for the employee to do so.
Essential Qualification:
An appropriate Social Work qualification from a recognised tertiary institution giving eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
**About the Business**
Community and Family Services supports vulnerable people and families to participate in social and economic life and build stronger communities. This division comprises three key areas:
**Safer Family Services (SFS) **provides a wide range of intensive family support services to children, young people and families experiencing a high risk of statutory intervention from the child protection or youth justice systems. Services also include family support, community development and parenting and youth programs.
The **Office for Women **works across government and the community towards achieving gender equity and positive change for women in South Australia by developing policy and advising on issues affecting women to improve their safety, wellbeing and economic security. The office also oversees the Women’s Information Service to support women over the phone, online and in person, as well as regional safety hubs across the state.
**Communities and Justice **works towards building community safety and wellbeing by providing support and services to children, young people and families in the youth justice system, building the capacity of communities through community development projects and working in partnership with the community services sector to respond to people with complex and exceptional needs.
**Role Status**: Term up to 18 months (Multiple positions available)
**Salary Range**: $86,950-100,729 (AHP2)
