**About the role**:
We are seeking a policy and strategic advocacy manager to join our Criminal Law program. In partnership with a second Manager, Policy & Strategic Advocacy, you will jointly lead the policy and strategic advocacy function for the directorate aimed at enhancing criminal law policy and law reform capability - which involves:

- Overseeing, leading and coordinating policy submissions and reform implementation.
- Developing partnerships and collaborating with other internal and external stakeholders in enhancing policy capability.
- Advising senior stakeholders on criminal law policy, law reform and strategic advocacy based on VLA practice experience, emerging issues and current trends.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to enhance VLAs law reform capability and improve current criminal law policies.

**About you**:

- Extensive experience leading policy development, projects and/or strategic advocacy, with demonstrated sound judgement in assessing policy impacts and options.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in criminal law and criminal justice issues.
- High level research, writing and policy analysis skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the capacity to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including the ability to negotiate and influence as necessary.
- A tertiary qualification in law, public policy or a related field (mandatory).
