The Kitchen Crew is not your ordinary cooking class - we are an innovative approach to tackling food insecurity and fostering community, empowerment, and self-sufficiency. We go beyond just cooking; we focus on capacity building, helping NDIS participants develop valuable life skills that extend far beyond the kitchen.
**OUR UNIQUE APPROACH**:
**Meal Plan Design**: We start with personalised meal plans crafted by dedicated allied health practitioners. Each participant receives a tailored meal plan based on their dietary needs, preferences, and health goals, emphasising balanced and mindful eating.
**Grocery Shopping**:Participants learn how to select fresh, nutritious ingredients while staying within a budget. Our grocery shopping experience is an immersive learning opportunity that equips individuals with practical skills for a healthier lifestyle.
**Cooking with a Professional**: The heart of our program is the cooking experience led by a professional cook. Participants learn essential cooking skills, the science, art, and joy of cooking, and create wholesome, homemade meals.
**Enjoying Homemade Meals**: The Kitchen Crew journey culminates in the enjoyment of homemade meals, reinforcing the connection between effort, nutritious food, and overall well-being, transforming mealtime into a celebration of achievement.

**Job Description: Kitchen Crew Member**
As a Kitchen Crew Member with expertise in disability support, you will play a crucial role in providing inclusive and personalized assistance to participants with disabilities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with allied health practitioners to ensure personalized meal plans accommodate participants' specific dietary needs and disabilities.
- Working closely with professional cooks to facilitate inclusive in-home cooking sessions and meal preparation that cater to participants' abilities.
- Assisting participants with disabilities during grocery shopping trips, promoting independence and offering support as needed.
- Contributing to group cooking sessions that foster a sense of community and mutual support, ensuring that participants of all abilities can actively participate.
**REQUIREMENTS**:
Previous experience in disability support or related fields is preferred but not required.
Previous experience in culinary arts, nutrition, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Passion for helping others and addressing food insecurity.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Empathy, patience, and understanding when working with participants of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 15 per week
**Salary**: $21.32 - $36.72 per hour
