**About the Role**:
The National Parks and Wildlife Service, Eyre and Far West Region is seeking an experienced person to take on the Ranger in Charge role based in the Gawler Ranges National Park. Working within the Far West district, the position leads a small team of rangers delivering park management priorities across the Gawler Ranges National Park, Lake Gairdner National Park, Pinkawillinnie Conservation Park and Lake Gilles Conservation Park.

All parks associated with the Gawler Ranges are co-managed with the Gawler Ranges people, so applicants will be expected to have experience in working and collaborating with Aboriginal communities.

The Ranger in Charge will be required to manage and deliver key projects as well as have a good working knowledge of effective biodiversity and wildlife management practises, cultural heritage management and able to demonstrate partnership and collaboration skills when dealing with departmental staff and the broader community.

**Contract**:
Ongoing

**Special Conditions**:

- Will be required to participate in emergency operations including bushfire operations, search and rescue and marine mammal strandings. This may require at times, some out of hours work including the participation in an “on-call” roster.
- Will be required to work some weekends, public holidays and days of significant fire danger for which a penalty rate will be applied.
- Will be required to undertake a medical and fitness assessment for a Fire Fighting Role Classification as defined in the DEW Fire Management Policy and Procedures.
- May be required to work from any location within the region or any region or management unit within the state.
- Will be required to wear a uniform in accordance with DEW policy.
- A current ‘C’ class Drivers Licence is essential and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.
- Intra and interstate travel is required, including extended periods of time away from home and travel in light aircraft.
- A current Provide First Aid Certificate is desirable (HLTAID001; HLTAID002 and HLTAID003).

**Remuneration**:
OPS6 $90,604 min - $95,413 max p.a.
