Officeworks offers an exciting traineeship opportunity to hone your planning skills and competencies as you take on a category of product in Technology We are searching for a commercial thinker with drive and ambition who is passionate about Merchandise Planning and the opportunity to be mentored and developed for a rewarding Planning career.

This key growth opportunity will focus on developing the skills and competencies to become a Merchandise Planner. Our Planners ensure product is in the right place, at the right time and in the right quantity, creating a great customer experience in store and on-line. Planning and control of the product range is key at Officeworks and our Planning team are passionate about ensuring we are in-stock for our loyal customer base.

You will manage a smaller category portfolio while undertaking structured development and on-the-job training to become a proficient and well-rounded Merchandise Planner.

Under the mentorship of an experienced Planner, the traineeship is delivered over 24 months in modules designed to expose you to all the elements of planning including stock, sales and margin management, forecasting, financial planning and product review. You will enjoy the opportunity to participate and lead over the life-cycle of products and categories in order to grow and refine your skill-set, negotiating price structures, delivery dates and supply contracts.

Learning how to influence and inform strategic and tactical outcomes, we will show you how to analyse business opportunities and challenges in order to create process change and optimisation. We will show you how to trade a category in order to maximize profitability and productivity while reducing risk.

**About you**:
With competency in Excel and MS Office tools and tertiary qualified, you will have the confidence and skills to develop your technical capability in our Planning systems such as SAP BW Reporting, Merchandise Financial Planning, SAP ERP and Replenishment systems. Prior retail experience with merchandise or inventory and a passion for merchandise planning will be highly regarded.

You are an excellent communicator with a critical mind and aptitude for reaching conclusions. An ability to influence and engage with internal and external stakeholders, coupled with strong problem solving skills that will enable our Trainee Planner to develop solid commercial relationships with integrity and purpose. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks and demands will help you navigate the challenges and maximise the opportunities on offer.
