ROV Electronics Pilot Technician
My Client specialises in ROV inspection, data collection, operational support, and technical services for a range of offshore and onshore projects.
Headquarters are in Western Australia, with support bases in Singapore and the UAE, allowing them to operate globally. Planned maintenance schedules ensure all their equipment is safe and reliable. Their reporting delivers meaningful analysis of accurate and precise sensor data.
**My client is seeking**
A dynamic and enthusiastic full time ROV Electronics Pilot Technician who is ready for a new and exciting challenge. This is a fantastic job for someone who is looking to move away from full time offshore work.
The ROV Electronics Pilot Technician is responsible for the following:
- Installing, testing and repairing electronic components, circuits and systems used for computers, communication and control systems, as required by Focus’s ROV and other systems.
- Developing apparatus and procedures to test electronic components, circuits and systems.
- Supervising installation and commissioning of computer, communication and control systems, and ensuring proper control and protection methods.
- Establishing and monitoring performance and safety standards and procedures for operation, modification, maintenance and repair of such systems.
- Installing, testing and repairing communications bearers based on wired, optical fibre and wireless communication media.
- Supervision of the Planned Maintenance Schedule and the updating of the Preventive Maintenance System records.
- Management of integration and testing electronic sensors and systems to ensure they function as planned.
- Ensuring that electrical sensors and systems meet the highest standards of user safety.
- Conducting system evaluations and making appropriate recommendations to modify designs or repair equipment as needed.
- Identify and recommend system improvements to improve technical performance.
- Define and execute testing and maintenance procedures for electronic software and components.
- Inspect electronics to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards.
- Supervise emergency and running repairs of Focus’s systems and ancillary equipment.
- Competent ROV piloting skills and familiar with inspection and survey methods.
- The safe and efficient operation of the ROV system and assigned personnel to conduct the operations detailed in the Project Plan.
- Management of ROV system maintenance, including delegation and supervision of onshore ROV team and offshore team when required.
- Managing the spares inventory and maintaining the correct level.
- Completion of system and project paperwork.
**Skills & Qualities**
- Possess a relevant trade qualification in electrotechnology or a similar field and has current and demonstrable experience in diagnosing faults and repairing electronic systems as well as developing electrical and mechanical solutions for industrial processes.
- Possess a relevant trade qualification or demonstrated experience in the electronics systems and controls
- Proven track record in ROV systems and tooling maintenance and commissioning.
- Familiarity with both digital and analogue circuit design.
- Hands-on wiring and soldering skills.
- Capable of project planning, scheduling and ongoing management.
- Familiarity with assembly and troubleshooting of electronic systems.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- A desire to learn and work as part of a close team.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to write, test and modify software to suit various ROV and tooling hardware.
- Become familiar with all health, safety, environment, and quality standards.
- Participate and contribute in all matters concerning health, safety and quality standards.
**Experience**
- Must be willing to work offshore both within Australia and overseas.
- Seaeye Falcon experience preferred.
- Mechanical componentry and their integration with electronics.
- ROV control system design and fault finding
- ROV diagnostic design
- Explore ROV control system builds, programming / diagnostics
- ROV tooling control system design and builds
- System integration higher level software systems.
- Microsoft Word, Excel and Visio.
- The PCB design process.
- Firmware programming of microprocessors in ‘C’.
- Development of product technical documentation.
- Experience with Fusion 360/SolidWorks for mechanical design. (Desirable)
Pay: $100,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
