We are seeking a capable Diesel Mechanical Fitter to join our team at the Nauru Regional Processing Centre on a 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off roster.

**About the Role**

In your role as Diesel Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for performing all trade related tasks associated with the maintenance and repair of diesel vehicles, plant and equipment of the Nauru Regional Processing Centre.

**General Duties include but are not limited to**:

- diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems with diesel powered vehicles and equipment
- perform routine maintenance, servicing and repairs on diesel powered vehicles and equipment
- perform electronic diagnostics on vehicles to identify faults and conduct preventative maintenance activities to ensure vehicles and equipment are in good condition
- repair damaged parts, units, malfunctions or deficiencies with the vehicles or machinery
- perform checks and tests to verify the success of repair parts and systems
- operate hydraulic jacks and hoists safely to inspect vehicles
- maintain accurate records of parts inventory, maintenance
- and repairs performed on vehicles and equipment
- respond to emergency breakdowns and perform repairs as required
- build and maintain a productive working relationship with team members, and stakeholders
- attend regular training and refresher sessions to maintain skills and qualifications including but not limited to cultural awareness, mental health, CPR and first aid.

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- minimum of 2 years’ experience, heavy vehicle and machinery experience would be preferred
- experience working in remote location (desirable)
- an automotive trade qualification or equivalent
- certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology or Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Trailer Technology
- a HR driver’s license
- unrestricted driver’s license
- sound level of fitness and ability to lift heavy parts
- social responsibility with the highest standards of personal honesty and integrity
- high level of cross-cultural communication skills
- a valid Working with Children check (Blue card) or willing to obtain one
- undertake, pass and maintain an Australian Federal Police check (this will be arranged by MTC)
- undertake and pass National Government Security Vetting (this will be arranged by MTC)
- undertake, pass and maintain a full physical and health assessment (initial assessment will be arranged by MTC)
- provide evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID -19 (double vaccinated) plus one booster with a vaccine recognized in Australia
