Why this role matters

The Doorways program provides person centred care to community members experiencing financial or other forms of hardship through the provision of financial and material emergency relief. Case management is provided at some of the Doorways sites to engage people through early intervention as well as address long term disadvantage to break the cycle of poverty and alleviate financial hardship. Our practitioners are strength based and trauma informed in their practice to build individual capacity, resilience and wellbeing.

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Community Support Facilitator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering impactful community-based workshops and activities. Your focus will be on providing vital support to individuals and families who engage with The Salvation Army, empowering them to effectively manage their own lives and overcome challenges they face. You will successfully
- Work in collaboration with the Community Engagement Worker to deliver community education workshops and activity programs for people experiencing financial hardship that assist them to reach their own potential
- Maintain relationships with other agencies to ensure better outcomes for workshop participants
- Provide the program service within the boundaries of qualifications and experience under the Doorways Delivery Model and under the direction of the Community Engagement Worker and the Regional Manager
- To ensure information exchange occurs according to appropriate legislation and policy Highly developed administration and computer skills
- Maintain inventory
- Rooms and facilities are regularly maintained to minimise accidents and incidents and to promote a welcome, safe and supported environment
- An understanding of minimising risk in the workplace and adherence to WHS requirements
- To reflect the mission values of The Salvation Army in daily practice, including spiritual, physical and emotional care
- To abide by state government standards and other relevant legislation including but not limited to service contract requirements, WHS legislation, privacy and consent, integrity checks
- Ability to work as a team member in a diverse community services setting.
- Participate in quality improvement reviews, accreditation and team meetings.
- Promote TSA activities and programs to community members and support community members to attend TSA activities

This is a permanent part time (19 hours per week) position based in Morley and Balga, WA. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 3 Award.

You will have
- Relevant Certificate 4 with relevant experience; or lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated relevant experience in workshop and group activity facilitation
- Knowledge in capacity building and working in partnership with others
- National police record check
- Current WA Drivers licence
- Working with Children Check
- Proficient interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communications and negotiation/consultation skills
