**The opportunity**

Our client is a community focused federal government agency. They have an exciting opportunity available for a Government Relations Officer, to join the Government Relations branch in overseeing scheme transition arrangements and post transition interactions.

12-month initial Labour Hire contract with the opportunity to extend. APS6 level role offering $58.50 hourly + Superannuation. To be based out of either Richmond or Geelong.

This is a hybrid position offering 2 days working from home, with the remaining 3 on site. 37.5-hour work weeks, with 8-hour days expected.

**About the role**:
The APS6 Government Relations Officer is a team membership position that may be required to perform work that involves team leadership and management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing workflows of a team.

The position will have a considerable level of public contact in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. It is required to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the Agency.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Developing and managing project plans for jurisdictional governance meetings and events in accordance with the Agency's project management framework
- Providing specialist advice and technical expertise to staff and stakeholders
- Performing independent research work and analysis including the preparation of draft reports, including on relevant governance activities
- Coordinating regular governance project reporting including status updates
- Preparing draft written material including business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documentation
- Contributing to project quality management of governance tasks to ensure that deliverables are fit for purpose and meet client needs
- Maintaining the register of actions, issues and risks arising from trilateral forums and prepare progress reports for the senior executive
- Analysing information from a variety of sources to identify and monitor emerging themes relevant to the work of the Agency or its participation in the intergovernmental forums

- Exposure to change management within project-based environments advantageous
- Able to work independently or under limited guidance
- Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders on policy, project or operational issues
- Can support internal and external networks
- Strong written & verbal communication
- Previous background within Disability or Government highly advantageous
