**About the role**

The Aboriginal Access Point is an exciting new initiative which will enhance the integrated family violence service system in the Bayside Peninsula Area and support self-determination and agency of Aboriginal families to:

- Navigate the family violence service system in ways that are culturally safe and responsive
- Have choice and agency in accessing services
- Access culturally safe information, planning, referral and exit pathways

The Principal & Women's Journey Walker position has been designed to lead a team of Journey Walkers to walk alongside Aboriginal Community members impacted by family violence and ensure they receive the right services to meet their needs. The role will also walk alongside Aboriginal Community members impacted by family violence to ensure they receive the right services to meet their needs. The model is unique and promotes a strengths-based approach to working with Aboriginal families where culture is acknowledged as a protective factor against family violence.

The Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of it’s kind in Australia. **About You**
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or equivalent qualifications (or willing to obtain) and extensive relevant experience or a combination of experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the duties required.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities including proven experience in successfully developing, managing and motivating a team.
- Demonstrated experience working across Family Violence and Child and Family Welfare Services with Aboriginal communities and working effectively with Aboriginal organizations, government departments and community service organizations;.
- Deep understanding of family violence in an Aboriginal context and demonstrated knowledge of current reforms in the sector.
- Proven experience in case management tasks, such as assessments, referrals, case planning and case closure
- **Requirement**: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Drivers Licence.
