**About the Role**
The Stagecraft Technician is a highly motivated and skilled individual who competently assists the Stagecraft Project Coordinator in delivery of multiple stagecraft activities and is responsible for delivering projects on time with best safe practice. You will also be responsible for assisting the operations and delivery of Theatre, Screen, Dance and Musical projects (Sets and Props). Including overseeing student workshop activities, set bump-in (and bump-out) and maintenance (during the performance season) which is connected to the performance program within Performing Arts.

Responsibilities include:

- In liaison with academic staff and designers, assist with the technical elements of delivery of projects (sets and props) and teaching programs within the Teaching Workshop.
- Prepare the workspace used by students, provide instruction and demonstrate stagecraft methods and practices.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of risk management, induction and OH&S programs ensuring safe work practice is adhered to at all times.

**About You**
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with individuals or as part of a team to achieve specific goals. You will have well-developed communication, interpersonal and liaison skills as well as excellent project/time management skills. You will also have a proven ability to prioritise in order to meet production deadlines.

You will also have:

- A degree in the field or equivalent in professional experience.
- A demonstrated working knowledge of theatre, dance and production design.
- Demonstrated experience working in theatre workshops and/or performance venues, utilising a broad range of current stagecraft techniques at a professional standard.
- Demonstrated ability to provide instruction and training to students on prop making and set building, including best practice in the safe use of facilities, equipment, chemicals and materials, and OH&S training and practice in safe handling of equipment and load lifting.
- To ensure the University continues to provide a safe environment for everyone, this position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check._
