The team is responsible for developing job cards (Rail Traffic Crew daily activities) and timetables to support changes to Queensland Rail’s SEQ Master Train Plan, Concept Modelling, special events and large-scale network closures.

Our team of analysts use optimisation software called HASTUS and an operational modelling software called Railsys with internally developed tools, along with a comprehensive understanding of our business, to provide robust, data-driven insights to help inform future strategic planning for timetables and traincrew.

**Your opportunity**

This is a great opportunity for someone with a mathematics or engineering degree and a love of operations research, wanting to join a team of enthusiastic and dedicated colleagues who all share a passion for public transport.

These roles will allow you to gain an introduction to key operational knowledge that can lead to various career progression opportunities in the public transport industry.

As a graduate in our Master Train Planning Team, you will gain exposure to the development of train timetables for our evolving rail network in Brisbane including the Cross River Rail project and the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. Your skills in problem solving and analytical thinking will ensure your success in this role.

**What you’ll bring**

As a graduate, a Bachelor of Science Mathematics or a Bachelor of Engineering is essential. Other than that, we’d love you to have:

- Basic experience or interest in providing analysis, modelling, and mathematical evaluation.
- Basic experience or interest in programming languages (i.e., Python, Microsoft Excel VBA, or SQL.)
- Resilience in a dynamic team environment and the ability to work autonomously.
- Skills in the use of a range of data analytical tools to aid in the ongoing support of internal reporting processes and provide statistical and data driven insights to support future decision making.
- Effective interpersonal skills - a key component of this role as the team has a collaborative approach to working.
- Proactive problem-solving skills.

HASTUS experience is strongly desirable but not essential (extensive training in HASTUS will be provided).
