An exciting opportunity exists to play a key role within the Events team, responsible for the planning, coordination and high-quality delivery of a diverse range of LGNSW corporate events. We’re seeking an experienced and motivated Events Officer to co-ordinate assigned events (online and in-person) and contribute to and provide support to operational and project plans relevant to the timely delivery of events. The successful applicant will also engage closely with external suppliers, partners and colleagues to establish and manage relationships throughout the event planning and delivery cycle.

Local Government NSW (LGNSW) is the peak body for councils and related organisations in our State. LGNSW advocates on behalf of members and their communities on policy to decision makers at state and federal levels. We also provide a comprehensive range of services including industrial relations representation, management services and training.

**The position**

Reporting to the Events Manager, the Events Officer will play an integral role within the Events and Learning Division. The role involves coordinating operational support, identifying logístical requirements, cost recovery and liaising with venue operators and key stakeholders to manage event requirements before, during and after assigned events and webinars. The role focuses on working with colleagues, partners and suppliers to negotiate and secure quotations within budget, effectively coordinate speakers and update and maintain records to deliver streamlined events.

**The person**

You will have demonstrated experience in coordinating events with excellent interpersonal skills and a capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders. You are highly organised with a strong emphasis on time management, financial accountability and flexibility to adjust and adapt your workload to meet competing priorities. Your strengths will be your oral and written communication and time management and attention to detail.

**Essential Requirements**
- A minimum 2+ years’ experience in events management, events marketing or generalist marketing (with events responsibilities).
- A tertiary qualification in Event Management, Marketing or a related discipline is desirable.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with experience preparing reports, correspondence, speeches, scripts etc.
- Customer focussed and problem-solving approach.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow established processes and contribute to process development.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Proven experience and working knowledge of event operations and logistics, production, risk management and compliance, budget management and financial accountability and stakeholder liaison.
- Strong computer skills Microsoft Office Suite /365, project planning tools, and a high degree of proficiency with CRM systems (iMIS), event management and/or membership data base programs.
