The Role |
we are looking for a Garment Technician to join their team. You will work to support the design team and Creative Director in managing and overseeing all aspects of technical design to ensure accuracy of all product measurements and the quality of the construction and fit.
- Oversee all aspects of technical design for every collection, including the creation of Tech Pack for every style, develop a fit comment document for all garment components, including fit, fabric, construction, stitch, and trims. Working closely with the Design & Production team to transition from initial concepts through to final sample
- Measure garments accurately to identify any fit issues and execute fit comments efficiently to remain on schedule with production, solving construction problems throughout the sample stage and liaising daily with suppliers, in regards to re-fits, fabrics, finishes & grading
- Participate in fit sessions, provide recommendations, note call-outs, and log critiques to accurately and efficiently address all issues, and communication of comments and follow ups to off-shore factories
- Provide and approves grading guidelines to vendors/factories after fit approval to ensure quality consistency and collaborate with internal and external partners
- Liaise in conjunction with the Design team to review and approve samples for production after a thorough evaluation of fit, measurement, pattern shaping, hanger appeal, and functionality
- Conducting QC of PP samples and Bulk TOP samples.
- Optimal communication, efficiency and productivity, as well as positive results in the overall. Maintaining constant communication with the Design Lead, Product Development Manager, & Production
- Development and the SMS and fit approval phase
The Skillset |
- 3+ years minimum womenswear industry experience
- Strong knowledge on all aspect of Technical Design, including Tech Pack, grading, fit comment and experience working across a variety of Womenswear categories is essential
- Tertiary education in Design, Pattern making & Grading is essential
- A genuine awareness of trends and the ability to incorporate this into fit sessions
- Experience in Tech packing, Garment spec, Pattern making, & Grading is essential
- In-depth knowledge and experience in fabric testing, têxtile properties and quality
assurance
- Ability to anticipate construction problems & provide suitable solutions
- Strong Communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop Illustrator, InDesign, Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Ability to prioritize and manage workload with multiple deadlines
- On-site working arrangements
- Strong organisational skills to adhere to critical path deadlines.
- Impeccable attention to detail.
