Snowy Hydro is a dynamic, integrated energy business that has been providing on-demand, reliable energy to Australia for generations. Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, thermal plant, and contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide energy to about 1 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy.
We have an exciting role in our environment team which will be focused on supporting the existing thermal (gas/diesel) generation to provide its crucial role supporting renewable hydro, wind and solar assets with peaking capability, as well as transitioning into new fuels like hydrogen as the technology develops. The person we are looking for will be looking to build on their existing environmental engineering or science knowledge and experience, adding air quality, greenhouse and carbon management experience to their practice.
The environment team is based in Cooma. However there is scope once established for the role to be based anywhere, with travel to the Hunter Valley, NSW Central Coast, Melbourne, South Australia and Cooma frequently required.
You will have some base knowledge and skills, but more importantly a strong willingness to learn and grow in the job with our experienced thermal advisor and broader team. You will have exceptional customer service skills and an ability to develop effective relationships across all levels of the business.

**Some of your responsibilities will include**:
Provide technical support for environmental work programs and initiatives in relation to operational practices, with a focus on air quality, greenhouse and carbon management.

Drive and support the development and implementation of technical / process improvements with environmental benefits, through strong engagement with internal and external stakeholders

Assist with carbon and greenhouse gas emissions reporting

Undertake operational and system audits to evaluate compliance with environmental performance standards, and recommend action and improvement opportunities

Coach and provide advice, to enable all necessary approvals to be achieved in line with requirements

Build positive relationships with both external and internal stakeholders to negotiate the best business outcomes

**To be successful in this role, you will possess**:
Relevant qualification in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering or similar

3-5 years experience in a similar position,providing advice to the energy, industrial processing, mining, construction, mining or public sectors

Environmental audit skills and experience with ISO14001 desirable

Demonstrated data management and report writing skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and complete assignments within allocated time frames

A willingness to learn and develop new and existing systems

Well developed communication, decision making and negotiation skills

Ability to work well within a team environment and relate to all levels of the workforce
