The Production Manager has responsibility for the short to medium term strategic direction and is accountable for the daily operation of the Ballarat Prepared Foods Product Plant, to produce a quality product within specification and budget constraints in the most efficient manner.

As an integral part of the Ballarat Site Leadership Team, this role is to understand, comply, and where necessary enforce, company policies and practices currently in place and any new policies/practices that are implemented.

**About the role**
- Leadership role in promoting/improving H& S culture within the Production Departments
- Leadership role in the Potato Products Leadership Team and responsible for overseeing implementation and sustainment of all the Plant Programmes, Policies and Procedures
- Develop strategies capable of sustaining the rate of change within the operation
- Ensure that employees within the Production Department have a comprehensive Training and Development Program
- To assist the Plant Manager with creating sustainable cost initiatives to reduce operational cost
- Understand the contributors to Total Production Cost by using continuous improvement tools to actively work towards zero loss
- To implement and sustain improvements made through Lean principles and behaviours
- Accountability for the quality of all production, ensuring that all Quality Management Systems (QMS) relevant to Production are adhered to
- To have a ‘hands on’ approach to Employment Relations, including the setting and monitoring of KPI’s and Performance Management of all direct reports
- To ensure all aspects of the day to day operation of the plant are compliant with Local body, Legislative and Corporate requirements

**About you**
- Relevant Tertiary qualification with a minimum of three year’s management experience in Food Science, Manufacturing or Process Engineering
- Leadership experience of people and communication skills (across multiple functions and all levels of an organisation)
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes, Safety, Quality (HACCP, GMP), Quality Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems
- Able to understand (and when required create/update) documentation in the any of the above mentioned systems
- Proven skills as a project manager and team player with good organisational, people and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work on a variety of unconnected projects with a result focus orientation
- A logical thinker with excellent problem solving skills
- Able to set and follow through with expectations and commitments
- Experienced in forward planning in short, medium and longer term cycles
- Sound knowledge of Statistical Process Control, lean principles and/or Six Sigma methodology
