**About the Role**
This is an exciting opportunity for a Platform Support officer to join the Biological Optical Microscopy Platform at the University of Melbourne. The Biological Optical Microscopy Platform provides research support for biomedical researchers using high-end optical microscopes in their research. This includes confocal, live-cell, super-resolution, high-content, multi-photon, slide scanning and lightsheet microscopes and associated data analysis software.

The position will report to the platform manager and work with a team of academic and professional staff supporting use of the platform capability.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Administer the day-to-day operation of the platform.
- Provide training and troubleshooting for platform instruments.
- Perform routine maintenance on all instruments.

**Who We Are Looking For**
To be successful in this role you will have excellent teamwork and communication skills, enabling you to work effectively with various internal and external stakeholders. You will also demonstrate excellent organisational skills, which enable you to evaluate and manage competing demands in a dynamic environment.

You will also have:

- Completion of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science degree with subsequent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles of fluorescence and fluorescence microscopy.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in using confocal microscopes.

- This position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check to ensure the University provides a safe environment for everyone._
