Our Energy Minerals Division provides high-quality, independent coal analysis and services to many Australian and international coal companies. We have NATA accredited (ISO/IEC 17025) coal laboratories servicing all major coal ports in Australia and have significant involvement with the superintending of coal exported overseas, quality control at mine sites / power plants and borecore evaluation. Our tech services provide mechanical sampling design and commissioning for all bulk particulate materials.

**Job Description**:
Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

- Manual handling of samples at the collection point and during the preparation process.
- Ensure that correct procedures are utilized in all aspects of sampling, recording, preparation, analysis, storage and reporting
- Assist with the preventative maintenance of all preparation and laboratory equipment
- Ability to interpret the data provided from the results
- Comply with a set of procedures and standards during preparation and analysis
- Good communication and interaction skills with our clients team and presenting your SGS team in a positive way.

**Qualifications**:

- Physically fit and active
- Open and valid drivers license and reliable transport (essential to this role)
- Good Microsoft office skills - EXCEL is a must
- Experience working in a fast paced and time pressured environment.
- Coal sampling, testing and preparation experience is preferred.
- Customer service skills are highly regarded with experience meeting the changing needs of a customer.
- Previous experience in a mineral laboratory environment (preferred, but not essential)
- Year 10 secondary education with a science background or equivalent (preferred)
- Able to pass a comprehensive pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen test. Completion of a numeracy, writing and comprehension test is also required.
- High attention to detail and capable of multi tasking.
