**Position Information**:
Captains Flat Public School is an inclusive growing rural school with a current enrolment of 43 students including 17% of students who identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
The school is the focal point of the historic village of Captains Flat in the Southern Tablelands of rural NSW and located in close proximity to Canberra and Queanbeyan.
Situated in a bushland setting, the dynamic school is equipped with excellent innovative learning environments, modern facilities and technology and strives for student excellence and success, strongly supported by a caring community.
The school places strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy and is supported by an Assistant Principal Curriculum and Implementation and a Digital Technology Officer. The school takes pride in the provision of a broad base curriculum and a range of extra curricula programs ensuing that students have opportunities to participate in areas of individual interest and talent. The school also shares expertise and partnerships with the Southern Small Schools Network and has connects with the Queanbeyan Network of Schools to optimise student learning and is strongly supported by an active Parents & Citizens Association.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.
1. Capacity to effectively undertake the dual teaching and administration responsibilities of a teaching principal focused on positive school culture.
2. Demonstrated ability to develop, model and deliver high quality, innovative teaching and learning programs and personalised learning plans with an emphasis on literacy and numeracy across a multi-stage classroom.
3. Capacity and commitment to engage all parents and the broader community in the life of a small rural school, and work collaboratively within and beyond local communities of schools.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
