About the role
In this new and exciting role, you will be helping to support, develop and deliver programs to young adults with physical disabilities between the ages of 18-25 years old, alongside your day to day responsibilities as a disability support practitioner.
These programs are implemented using an active support model with the aim of all programs delivered to create independence, experience and opportunity. The programs are delivered at a ratio of support of 1:1 and 1:2 depending on support needs, the aim is to create the most individual experience for each participant.
- The role will include:_
- Assisting clients at meal times, with personal care needs and administering medication
- Masterclass_
- Participate in developing and implementing individual and group-based capacity building.
- Providing support to participants on personal development as per individual support needs
- Supporting clients to explore their aspirations and build small achievable steps towards completing the larger goal.
- Youth Day programs_
- Supporting young adults through programs built around experience.
- Exploring opportunities for young adults that meet their capabilities.
- Supporting young adults to access opportunities in the local community that increase their experience’s as well as their chances to self-Advocate and develop new skills.
Hours of work:
Permanent part-time Monday to Friday 9am-3pm *minimum 3 days per week
What we are looking for:
To be successful in the role we are looking for passionate and enthusiastic people who will ideally have previous experience supporting young people, people with disability and/or mental health diagnosis.
- The ability to develop positive relationships with our customers and to support their individual care plans
- Previous experience supporting young people
- Hardworking and proactive;
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- A professional attitude towards work, accountable, reliable and have a high level of motivation;
- Thrive in a team-based environment, where everyone pitches in to help;
Must have’s:
- A current NSW Driver's Licence (P2 minimum) and access to a car;
- Must have (or willing to obtain prior to starting), a current First Aid Certificate, CPR & Working with Children Check;
