The Scholarships Team at the Australian-American Fulbright Commission manages one of the largest scholarships exchange programs of the worldwide Fulbright Program.

**Who We Are**

The Australian-American Fulbright Commission is a non-profit organisation sponsored by the United States and Australian governments and other institutional and business partners, private bequests, and endowments.

The Commission oversees delivery of the Fulbright Program in Australia.

The Fulbright Program is the flagship foreign exchange scholarships program of the United States. It is aimed at fostering binational academic and research collaboration, cultural and idea exchange and mutual understanding. The Fulbright Program operates in 160 countries and commemorated its 75th anniversary in 2021. The Australian Program was established in 1949 in the first treaty between Australia and the United States, pre-dating even the ANZUS Treaty.

Since its inception, more than 5,500 Australians and Americans have received scholarships to study in one another’s country.

Awards are offered in all disciplines, with awardees ranging from young postgraduates to mid-level professionals through to senior scholars and professors.

**The Role**

The Australian-American Fulbright Commission is seeking a Scholarships Officer to join a small dynamic team that is collectively responsible for managing the Fulbright Program in Australia.

The Scholarships Officers are also involved with Program impact reporting, promotion and marketing of the program, organising an annual gala presentation dinner at Parliament House, outreach activities throughout Australia, and the showcasing of Fulbright alumni achievements. They interact with a wide range of contacts and stakeholders at all levels.

**Who We Are Looking For**

We are looking for individuals who support the building of cultural bridges, the implementation of cutting-edge research and innovation, and the fostering of those individuals who are addressing the key challenges and opportunities of our time.
- A university degree
- Interest in, and knowledge of, the Australian and United States higher education sectors
- Organisational skills, including attention to detail and deadlines, and the ability to set priorities and multi-task
- Strong people skills
- Professional experience, ideally with an emphasis on customer service and project management
- Effective communication skills
- Team collegiality with the ability to work with significant autonomy
- Sound judgement and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues
- Problem-solving, risk assessment and negotiation skills
- Dependability, reliability and professionalism
- Good public presentation skills
- A sound understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite
- Data entry and database management skills
- A sense of humour
