**ABOUT THE ROLE**

TAFE NSW is seeking Casual Teachers of Urban Horticulture. In this role, you will have the chance to evolve to meet the changing needs of industry and be responsible for a range of activities, which supports learners, and enhances the student learning experience.

Student outcomes are about more than the course material, industry current equipment and having a great teacher. As a professional educator, you will be able to not only impart your technical skills, but also the industry standard safety culture to your students.

**ABOUT YOU**

If you are committed to providing relevant, timely training to our learners so they achieve their desired outcomes via a mix of incredibly interesting offsite practical lessons with a blended delivery of TAFE campus and online connected learning, then this unique role may be what you are looking for.

You are highly flexible and adaptable in keeping pace with rapidly emerging skill areas with specialist knowledge.

It’s important that you understand current and emerging industry skills needs so TAFE NSW can be responsive to industry and customers. Your industry specific understanding will ensure that the training you deliver aligns with in-demand and priority areas.

**To be successful in this role you must**:

- Hold the minimum vocational qualification in Certificate III in Urban Horticulture, or Parks and Gardens, or equivalent.
- Have current knowledge of the industry and strong understanding of current trends and diversity within the relevant Horticultural sector.
- Have skills and knowledge in area/s:

- Plant identification, nutrition, establishment, pruning and propagation
- Pest, Disease and weed control
- Soil testing and improvements
- Installation of Irrigation and drainage systems
- Sustainable landscapes
- Report writing
- Preparing quotes and tenders
- Turf establishment
- Machinery maintenance
- Have a minimum of three (3) years relevant and post-qualification experience in the industry relevant to your qualification.
- Hold the TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or the TAE40110 qualification with the required additional upgrade units, or higher-level qualification in adult education, or be in the process of completing the Certificate IV-TAE40116.
