**About the role**:
As a successful applicant, you are an integral team member within the Financial Accounting and Compliance Branch in providing high-quality accounting and financial services across the organisation. The Financial Analyst focus will primarily be in the Fixed Assets team with a high level of engagement with internal and external stakeholders (Victorian Auditor-General's Office, Valuer-General Victoria). You will require proficiency in time management, general accounting, analytical abilities, financial reporting and writing skills.
This role reports directly to the Fixed Assets manager.

**Your duties will include**:
- Maintenance of the Fixed Assets Register (FAR) and all the accounting tasks related to the FAR.
- Monitor and record in the system the Work-In-Progress (WIP) costing of projects. Ensure these are followed up and capitalised when required.
- Review completed WIP projects for capitalisation into the FAR.
- Support the end-of-month accounting processes
- Provide advice on, and assist with, various financial management activities in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies.
- Provide policy, financial and accounting advice with respect to fixed assets to all stakeholders ensuring compliance with relevant government legislation and directives, accounting standards, and Victoria Police policies and procedures.
- Support the preparation of the financial statements and information for auditors.
- Undertake various accounting-related projects as part of an ongoing and continual improvement strategy, including identifying and resolving local service delivery issues by initiating improvements within the area.
**As the successful applicant, you will have**:
- Experience in the use of accounting software, preferably Oracle in a large organisation
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong customer focus
- Attention to detail
- Excellent MS Excel skills
- Excellent MS Word skills
**Requirements and relevant information**:
- One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands, but may be required to work at other locations (including working from home) if required. Note Victoria Police supports flexible work arrangements.
- After hours may be required at financial month-end and year-end
