**What you will be doing**

The role is expected to support exploration and operations to ensure compliance with environmental commitments and statutory requirements, manage environmental risks and opportunities, and drive responsible and sustainable mining at Newmont Boddington Operations.

**About you**

Your Tertiary qualification in Environment (Environmental Engineering/Science Degree, Diploma of Natural Resource Management) together with your strong organisational skills and focus on continuous improvement is important.

You will have a proven track record to interpret monitoring results and technical reports, for regulatory approvals and internal/external reports. Experience in exploration, rehabilitation, biological surveys, and incident reporting will be highly regarded together with a sound awareness of the relevant Mining and Environmental legislation.

You will be a proactive and effective communicator with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with both internal and external stakeholders.

It will also be beneficial if you have:

- Experience or understanding of GIS software
- Experience in mining, exploration activities and/or rehabilitation planning

**Key Accountabilities will include**
- Providing specialist environmental knowledge to operational departments and business partners across site.
- Overseeing exploration programs based on continuous improvement, compliance, and in line with regulatory approvals and site procedures.
- Participating in risk assessments and environmental management initiatives.
- Coordinating key projects associated with minimising environmental, heritage, enterprise, and social risks specific to the Boddington Gold Mine.
- Coordinating specialist studies (e.g. Fauna & Flora, Dieback Assessments, Water abstraction, Air Quality) and predictive models (Air, Groundwater, Noise & vibration etc.) where necessary.
- Completion and timely submission of compliance reports linked to State and Federal legislation.
- Assisting in obtaining regulatory approvals from DWER and DMIRS
- Facilitation of environmental incident reporting and generation of SMART corrective actions. Preparing documentation for incident reports and tracking the close-out of actions.
- Completing system and standard-specific audits and development of actions where deficiencies have been recognised.
- Providing mentoring to personnel on site in environmental management through participating in workplace inspections.
- Provide support to the site Heritage Advisor with ad-hoc heritage monitoring with Traditional Owners..
