**About the role**
An exciting opportunity is available for a capable and motivated individual to join Councils Open Space and Natural Resources team on a temporary full-time basis.

The position is a maternity leave replacement for approximately 6 months (to January 2024).

The position plays a key role in the delivery of Council’s volunteer Bushcare Program. On a daily basis you will be responsible for the management of up to 20 Bushcare volunteer groups including liaising with volunteers, implementing educational programs and events, and the recruitment of Bushcare volunteers and groups. The role includes limited weekend work (approx. 4 hours per month) paid at award penalty rates.

**About You**

**Qualifications**:

- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a recognised natural resource/ environmental management related field.
- NSW Class “C” Drivers License
- Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management (Desirable)
- AQF3 (Desirable)

**Experience**:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related field
- Demonstrated previous experience in supervising Bushcare volunteers, natural resource management and bush regeneration activities
- Demonstrated previous experience preparing and delivering environmental education programs (desirable)

**Skills**:

- Demonstrated innovative and creative approach to developing and implementing volunteer programs.
- Ability to exercise professional judgement and adaptability in evaluating and deciding on appropriate actions.
- Demonstrated bushland regeneration knowledge.
- Sound understanding of key environmental legislation and Council policies and functions that relate to natural resource management.
- Ability to liaise with a diverse range of community groups and volunteers to educate them and the wider community on relevant natural resource issues and projects.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication and negotiation skills and an ability to relate to all levels of staff within the organisation and the community.
- To have the ability to research and investigate matters in a methodical manner and be able to convey information to others.
- Ability to manage personal work priorities and professional development with mínimal supervision.
- Experience or working knowledge of the preparation of newsletters and education material.
- Well-developed administration and computer skills.
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision and direction within broad parameters.

**What’s on offer**
We are offering an attractive total remuneration from $86,409.73 to $95,156.96 plus 10.5% superannuation.
