**The Opportunity**
We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Biosecurity Officer - Governance and Projects to be part of our Biosecurity Division within PIRSA. The role reports to Manager, Biosecurity Governance and Projects.

The role contributes to delivering the agency’s priorities including leading the planning and development of a range of key policy and programs that manage risks to South Australia’s trade, food safety, environmental protection and community health arising from a range of industry activities that intersect with the state’s biosecurity legislation and objectives. The role coordinates activities to ensure policy and legislation are fit-for-purpose and underpinned by efficient systems, assisting to ensure robust biosecurity measures are in place and are effective and minimising risks to production and export market access. The role also prepares high level submissions, reports, and briefings in relation to complex and critical biosecurity matters and participates in state and national policy workgroups and committees.

**What you’ll be working on**:
You will:

- Deliver, monitor, review and report on activities relating to the state’s and national biosecurity priorities and initiatives.
- Deliver effective strategic business, risk and governance plans across the Division consistent with PIRSA policies and processes.
- Produce quality briefings, responses and reports on strategic biosecurity issues
- Provide specialist input into complex regulatory issues and priorities
- Manage appointments to statutory boards and committees in line with legislative and Cabinet processes and requirements
- Deliver leadership and high level input on a range of agency, state and national committees to drive priorities, address risks, and implement biosecurity plans in the state.

**About you**:

- You will have a thorough understanding of government legislation processes and experience in interpreting legislation into effective policies and projects.
- You will have demonstrated experience working in high-level political agendas, show a clear sense of direction with national, state and local political contexts, and have successfully built multi-disciplinary networks to foster collaboration.

The position may be required to relocate to an alternative PIRSA office within metropolitan Adelaide.
