About the role
The Continence Nurse Advisor position provides a specialist clinical service to Calvary Health Care Kogarah (CHCK). The primary purpose of the position is to provide comprehensive continence assessments and support for clients over 65 years, quality improvement and education in the community and inpatient environments, management and education to those experiencing continence issues, in the targeted population living in the St George geographical area.
**Your main duties will include**:
The Continence Nurse Advisor will provide regular liaison, case conferencing and education for continence issues and patient outcomes with the Transitional Aged Care Nurses and the wider community health team. The continence advisor would not provide long term clinical care.
Continence support is provided to patients/clients in an inpatient and outpatient clinic setting both in the ward and clinic environment.
**What you bring**:
**Criteria 1**: Agree to work within the Mission and Values of Calvary Health Care Kogarah
**Criteria 3**: Current unrestricted Class C driver's license.
**Criteria 4**: Knowledge of aged care and dementia issues and demonstrated continence experience and management of continence issues; plus experience working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and in use of interpreters.
**Criteria 5**: Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
**Criteria 6**: Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
**Criteria 7**: Demonstrated ability to provide education to clients, peers, carers as well as commitment to ongoing self-education and best practice. Willingness to undertake further education in the area of Continence.
**Criteria 8**: Commitment to Quality Improvement and ability to influence organisational change.
