We are currently looking for a Protein Buyer to join our Procurement Team. The key focus of the role will be around the procurement of domestic meat and seafood for processing through our multi-species tray packing facility at Arndell Park.
Reporting to the Procurement Manager Meat & Livestock, you will engage with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the business has the raw materials available to meet customer requirements both in terms of quality and timelines. The role will also see you building upon the vast network of domestic and export protein contacts around Australia.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

- Working closely with QA and Production to develop specifications with suppliers that meet BEC raw material requirements including quality expectations
- Communicating to the wider departments on market pricing and also market trends that will allow the business to strategically purchase
- Negotiating pricing and/or contracts showing the business cost savings
- Continually manage supplies DIFOT and report to relevant stakeholders and suppliers
- Sourcing and introducing new/alternative vendors for raw material suitable for BEC
- Initiating tenders for materials and services and following through to implementation
- Building and developing relationships with vendors to build long term effective partnerships

**About you**
We’re looking for a motivated buyer with strong commercial and financial awareness. This role would suit someone who possesses excellent negotiating skills with the ability to identify and drive opportunities
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strategic thinking and planning skills
- Sound organisation skills
- High level interpersonal skills
- Previous FMCG industry experience (desirable)
- AUSMEAT Meat specification course (desirable)
