**The Opportunity**
Join the University of Tasmania as a Payroll Accounting Specialist, reporting to the Manager, Payroll and Benefits. You will be responsible for providing detailed financial expertise in the reconciliation of payroll general ledger accounts, ensuring timely and accurate interaction with employees in relation to overpayment recovery, and other internal stakeholders, and supporting the Payroll and Benefits function.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Overpayments, accrued salary and wages, motor vehicle, PAYG, superannuation refunds.
- Communicate and follow up on all overpayments, advising the Payroll and Benefits team member when agreement has been reached in order for them to enter the DDNET recovery.
- Reconcile all ‘out of balance’ items as they occur each pay run.
- Support and advise Payroll and Benefits team members by providing guidance as to any incorrect entries or escalation required to fix incorrect general ledger entries.
**Your Application**:
To be successful in the role, you will require:
- Completion of graduate degree in Accounting and/or other financial discipline.
- Demonstrated previous accounting experience, ideally in a payroll environment.
- On the journey towards qualified accountant (eg CPA or CA) or commitment to undertake the journey.
- Demonstrated skills in accounting and general ledger reconciliation.
- Well-developed communication (written and verbal) skills, with a commitment to customer service excellence and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated high level of numeracy and proven attention to detail combined with problem solving and judgement skills.
**Remuneration**
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a maximum total remuneration package of up to $110,273 comprising base salary within the range of $86,918 to $94,250 plus 17% superannuation. Salary commensurate with relevant skills and experience.
