About the role

This exciting permanent full-time leadership role provides transfusion medicine and pathology oversight, to our national team and reports to and acts as delegate for the Medical Director Pathology Services.

You will play a key role in our team, providing transfusion medicine specialist advice to others, both internally and externally to deliver exceptional services. This role combines operational management as well as tackling strategic projects with support of 2 Regional TM Specialist Clinical Leads and other non-medical support staff. Lifeblood also contributes to accredited registrar training, offering 3 dedicated positions. Through the Transfusion Policy Education (TPE) Unit, Lifeblood offers a wide range of educational activities and high-quality resources for the field, and you will play a key leadership role in shaping the future with the support of the unit manager and team.

Please note after a period of orientation and training you will contribute to the afterhours on call roster.

Sound interesting? Here’s what we’re looking for;
A Medical Degree, with current Medical Board of Australia registration

Fellowship with the RCPA or equivalent

Demonstrated contemporary experience in the practice of haematology, blood banking, transfusion medicine or related relevant field.

Ability as an inspiring people manager, and a collaborative style, working with functional teams across Lifeblood

Utilise initiative with demonstrated problem solving skills, to provide expert medical advice and direction within Lifeblood operationally and strategically.

An excellent communicator, both written and verbally, with experience developing expert clinical position papers, and contribute to/lead emerging practice innovations and education.

Able to anticipate and respond to new initiatives, changing conditions and shifting priorities.

Understand the blood sector structures as well as the regulatory frameworks within which Lifeblood operates.

Be experienced and comfortable at senior leadership levels as part of delegation and succession planning.
