**About the Role**

A law student in the final years of your undergraduate degree, you will play an important role in the Legal, Governance and Risk portfolio by assisting with the management of property related legal matters, and in particular, encroachments onto Council owned land or assets.

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will prepare correspondence related to land encroachments, liaise with Council’s external advisors on encroachment and other property matters, and collate relevant documentation to support the assessment or resolution of encroachment disputes or other property matters.

The Legal Intern - Property and Land Tenure will utilise their developing legal and established administrative skills to help drive an efficient legal practice.

**Skills and Experience**
- Ability to quickly develop an understanding of the role and function of Council in managing a large and varied property portfolio
- Ability to analyse identified encroachments, request and synthesise relevant information from Council departments, prepare recommendations for resolution of encroachment issues having regard to external advice, Council policy and established principles of property law.
- A high level of attention to detail to produce high quality work including external correspondence.
- Demonstrated communication, customer service and/or administration support skills.
- Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Teams and Office 365).
