**About the Role**:
The GIS Specialist is a key and active participant of the Emergency Communications Information Services (ECIS) team.

The goal of the function is to provide delivery of all end-to-end GIS functions including GIS data management, mapping and analysis activities.

Reporting to the Manager, GIS Mapping and Data, specific accountabilities will include administration of spatial data to ensure currency and accuracy of data sets, troubleshooting and support for incidents and requests.

The main purpose of the role is to extract, transform and load spatial data from Emergency Service Organisations (ESOs) and government agencies into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system for use in the verification, routing and dispatch process used by call takers and dispatchers for the location of a caller.

As part of the ITS team you may be required to travel or transfer between your primary work location and other ESTA sites to effectively carry out your duties. Normal working hours are 38 hours per week between 7 am and 7 pm, Monday to Friday. You may be required to work reasonable overtime and participate in an on call roster.

Day to day responsibilities include:

- Liaise with internal and external business stakeholders to understand their data processing needs and manage the processing of their data into ESTA’s Computer Aided Dispatch system
- Administer and process updates and changes to spatial data in accordance with specified procedures and service levels
- Maintain and improve spatial database environment, identifying any problems and options for resolution
- Assist in the support, development and maintenance of ESTA data administration procedures and policies
- Liaise and maintain stakeholder relationships and data supply arrangements with agencies and vendors

**About You**:
As GIS Specialist, you will have a Diploma or Tertiary qualification in Geospatial Info Tech, Computer Science or related discipline. Ideally you will be registered with a relevant professional body or associations, such as ESRI.

Additionally, it is also anticipated you will bring:

- Extensive/Demonstrable experience in SQL scripting and computer programming and a demonstrated knowledge with SQL Server and/or Oracle
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
- Required to sit SQL scripting test prior to interview selection
- Extensive/Demonstrable experience with ESRI suite of products
- Experience working within the public sector
